On 17 July, Tomás Ariztía (UDP) and Tomás Undurraga (UAH) presented “Anticipating Green Hydrogen: clean tech fairs and the making of energy futures” at the EASST/4S meeting in Amsterdam. They analyzed how green hydrogen fairs in Chile since 2019 have shaped energy futures, highlighting key practices in promoting green hydrogen within green capitalism.

In May, Tomás Ariztía (UDP) and Tomás Undurraga (UAH) participated in the XII Chilean Sociology Congress. They joined a panel discussing sociology, STS, and environmental challenges. Ariztía presented findings from his Fondecyt project on green hydrogen and its role in energy futures and local energy generation.

On 17 May, Tomás Ariztía (UDP) and Tomás Undurraga (UAH) participated in the seminar “Extinguishing the Imagination” in Punta Arenas. Ariztía presented “A new fuel for the energy transition?” where he explored the future of green hydrogen in Magallanes, analyzing practices of anticipation and the displaced alternatives in its development.
Successful conclusion of the “Science, Technology and Environment” Reading Group
Between September 2023 and January 2024, the “Science, Technology, and Environment” Reading Group, led by Tomas Ariztía and Tomas Undurraga, brought together academics to discuss key works on the intersection of science, technology, and environmental challenges. The group analyzed five essential interdisciplinary books.

On 13 May, the “Natural and Energy Laboratories” workshop was held at Universidad Diego Portales. Researchers discussed progress on three Fondecyt projects, including Tomás Ariztía’s work on Magallanes as an energy laboratory for green hydrogen and the role of natural and energy labs in addressing environmental challenges.
